Four ways to say “clean up my room” in Japanese?

部屋(へや)を掃除(そうじ)する

部屋(へや) = room
掃除(そうじ)する = clean up

When I hear “部屋(へや)を掃除(そうじ)する,” I expect the person to clean up the room using a broom or a vacuum cleaner.

Example sentence (casual)

A:Masa, 自分(じぶん)の部屋(へや)掃除(そうじ)してね。
B:わかったよ。

A:Masa, could you clean up your room?
B:Sure.

A:部屋(へや)を掃除(そうじ)するの大変(たいへん)だったよ。
B:お疲(つか)れ様(さま)。

A:It was tough to clean up the room.
B:You’ve gotta be tired.

Example sentence (Formal)

片付(かたづ)ける = tidy up, organize, clean up, put away

・部屋(へや)を片付(かたづ)ける = tidy up the room.
